Leland Dale (Lee) Wilson II

Denver resident Lee Wilson, 76, died Feb. 21, 2024, at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo. Lee was born in Atlantic, Iowa on April 4, 1947, to Leland and Norma Wilson.

He spent his early childhood in Griswold, Iowa, until his parents moved to Walsenburg in 1959. He graduated from Walsenburg High School in 1965 where he participated in multiple sports.

He worked at his parents’ restaurant in Alamosa, the Cow Camp Café, to finance his college education. He graduated from Adams State College (University) with a business degree. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a retired accountant in the Denver area. He also lived in San Diego, Calif., for a few years, and he really enjoyed his time there.

Lee was an avid outdoorsman in his prime. He enjoyed camping and hiking. He climbed 40 fourteeners, was a competitive volleyball player, and bicyclist. He also loved sports cars, as he had a few of his own over the years. He had a great sense of humor.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Norma Wilson, his niece Andrea Dayzie, and his nephew Todd Garcia.

Lee is survived by siblings Rosemary (Sam) Dayzie of Cortez, Marsha (Tim) Gallagher of Pagosa Springs, John (Candy) Wilson of San Diego, Calif., and Brenda Wilson (Mitch O’Steen) of Alamosa. Also survived by his nieces and nephews, Angie (Jason) Rossback, Tami (Matt) Sliwkowski, Marlena (Steve) Halko, Lisa Larson, John (Maureen) Wilson, Mark Russell, Derek (Angie) Russell, and Nathan (Desiree) Russell. He is also survived by best friend, Chris Ciarello of Denver. Plus he is survived by numerous cousins.

Cremation was chosen and there will be no services. His ashes will be spread at a later date in the mountains he loved.
