Leroy Gutierrez, 77, of Antonito, Colorado went home to be with our Lord on September 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  Leroy was welcomed into the world on December 9, 1940, the son of Bernardo Gutierrez and Natividad Madril Gutierrez. Leroy was a loving husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle,  Brother, and friend.  Leroy worked and retired from the Harborlite Corporation after 38 years of dedicated service. He was an avid baseball fan, he was the co-leader of Southern Peaks Trail Riders, 4H Club, co-president of the Antonito High School Marching Band, he was with Search and Rescue for 30 years. Leroy was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, camping, riding his horse, Pepper. He was a member of the Antonito Senior Citizens Center, he enjoyed dancing, especially the Jitterbug with his wife. He also helped with the Share program. Leroy was passionate about cars and enjoyed collecting classic cars and going to car shows. Most important was the time he spent with his family and friends.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Henrietta Gutierrez of Antonito, CO; daughters Debbie Valentine of  Lompoc, CA, Louise (Danny) Govea of Antonito, CO, Kristie Romero of San Antonio, TX; sons Juan (Cathy) Castillo of Thornton, CO; Gary Gutierrez of Buford, GA; Gene (Daesha) Gutierrez of Antonito, CO; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters Theresa Garcia, Jenny Medina, Kathy Ruybal all of Albuquerque, NM; Lorraine Atencio of Antonito, CO; Margaret Bobian of Walsenburg, CO; Susan Reeves of Aurora, CO; brothers Duane Gutierrez of Albuquerque, NM; Michael Gutierrez of Denver, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Bernardo and Natividad Gutierrez, two sons Tim Gutierrez, Henry Gutierrez and one brother Mike Gutierrez.   

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Interment will follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa. Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Antonito.
