Letter to the editor: Concert for Cancer Relief a success

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the businesses that helped make the 7th Annual Concert for Cancer Relief a success. We raised enough money that night to help another 46 Valley cancer patients with a $300 stipend. Thanks to those businesses who contributed: 1st Southwest Bank, Alamosa Home, Automotive Concepts, Colorado Realty & Land Co., Dell’s Insurance, Diamond Hospitality/Hampton Inn, Ef’s Restaurant, Emma’s, Houge’s Glass, Howlin’ Dog Records, McNeil Ranch, Oscar’s Restaurant, Richmond Music, Rio Grande Savings & Loan Association, Russell Surveyors & Associates, SLV Brewing Company, Wall, Smith, and Bateman. Additionally, we’d like to thank SLV Federal Bank for making a generous donation each December, and Agro-Engineering whose employees also make a generous donation at the end of the year.

I’d also like to thank our sponsors KRZA and KSLV for advertising, Richmond Music and Robear Bosdorf for sound, Main Copy Source for programs, Amy Kucera for poster design, and Nestle Toll House Café for the refreshments. Thanks, too, to the Green Spot in Alamosa and the Windsor in Del Norte for handling ticket sales and to Pete, Ruth, Lisa, and Willie at Society Hall for hosting the event.

The SLV Cancer Relief Fund could not carry out its mission of providing Valley cancer patients with stipends without the support of the community. Thanks to all who became or renewed memberships, made donations, and/or attended the concert. I’m sure I speak for the many cancer patients we have served by sending heartfelt thanks.
