Letter to the editor: Re: USA Today op-ed, Eric Swalwell, D-Calif.

The July 2018 issue of American Hunter gave a report on the headline “Antigun Democrat proposes banning semi-automatics, going after resistors.” (USA Today op-ed, Eric Swalwell)

This proposal coming from a legislator that took a sworn oath before being seated as a duly elected legislator to protect the U.S. Constitution smacks of conspiracy to commit treason. Like others before him, he has worked 24/7 to destroy The Bill of Rights which is the foundation of the U.S. Constitution. Up to now, they have been allowed to get away with such behavior. Their aim is to destroy the United States of America as we know it and they must be stopped.

Legislators like Swalwell are nothing but socialistic mouthpieces. He is trying to inject Australian government ideology on our United States again. The framers of our Bill of Rights and Constitution were given their direction from the Declaration of Independence and the victory of General George Washington over the arrogance of King George III with the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. The “Crown” was still intent on punishing those rebel colonists when the White House was burned during the War of 1812.

Going after resistors having legally acquired and used firearms and stating that “the best way to do this is to get these firearms out of our communities” is very similar to Hitler’s 1935 action to disarm the German people.

Swalwell commented that the Parkland, Florida survivors gave him the push for his proposal. He should have proposed harsh discipline for local law officers that “punked out” and did not engage the shooter and FBI agents for totally mishandling information.

Of course, that would not provide the political support he desires. He prefers to use defenders of The Bill of Rights, especially the Second Amendment, as his whipping post.

Sincerely,

Hugh L. Fuchs
