Letter to the Editor: SLV Big Band’s appreciative

With the SLV Big Band slated for three public performances in the San Luis Valley over the next two weeks, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the businesses, organizations, and individuals who have generously contributed to supporting the SLV Big Band in an upcoming promotional CD and film project.

The SLV Big Band will be performing a live recording session at Society Hall on Sunday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m.  The following week, the SLV Big will honor our veterans with two performances: Saturday, November 9 at ASU’s Richardson Hall at 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, November 10, at Central Auditorium in Monte Vista at 6:30 p.m.

The businesses and organizations that have stepped up to support the SLV Big Band with the November 3 Society Hall live-recording performance are: Trinidad State Junior College and Rio Grande Motel – both Platinum sponsors; The Outcalt Foundation – Gold sponsor: ACE Hardware, Sierra Vista Lumber, and 1st Southwest Bank – Silver sponsors; and SLV Federal Band, Rio Grande Savings and Loan, SLV Health, Poole Chemical, the Davis Family, Monte Vista Coop, and the ASU Music Department – Bronze sponsors.

The promotional CD and film project is being done by Don Richmond/Howlin’Dog Records, and Todd Cotton and Greg Boyce, both Directors of Communication at Trinidad State Junior College.  The recording and film is designed to give the SLV Big Band (and consequently the San Luis Valley) an internet presence on YouTube.  Sponsorships for this project will remain open until the project is completed in late spring or early summer, 2020 and the names of additional sponsors that come in between now and the release of the CD will also be included on the CD and related promotional materials.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the SLV Big Band and the volunteer musicians that comprise the membership of the SLV Big Band, we appreciate the support that our businesses, organizations, and individuals in the San Luis Valley have provided.
