Live forum on radio best option

As we attempted to find a suitable venue for an Alamosa County candidate forum in light of the pandemic restrictions, it became apparent that it was nearly impossible to find a location to accommodate what was expected to be a crowd of 100 or more.

Enter KSPK radio and the opportunity to co-sponsor a live forum on air prior to the ballots being mailed on October 9. The forum will be held this Monday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. and can be heard on KSPK FM at 102.3, 100.3, 104.1FM, or listen to live streaming on KSPK.com. KSPK may also be listened to on any smart cellular phone on the Tune-In application.

Together with the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, we have tried to sponsor candidate forums on an annual basis because we believe in the importance of an educated electorate. It was increasingly frustrating to make this happen in-person this year thanks to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

All four county commissioner candidates seeking two positions on the board and both county clerk candidates have agreed to attend. Courier Publisher Keith R. Cerny will moderate the forum.

Questions for the candidates may be directed by email to [email protected], and need to be in by noon Monday.

We sincerely apologize for not being able to pull off an in-person forum for voters prior to ballots being mailed but feel this is an opportunity to hear what the candidates have to offer.
