

Local boys golf teams wrap up regular season

ALAMOSA – The regular season for the high school boys golf season came to a conclusion on Wednesday as all three teams competed at the Pagosa Springs Invitational at Pinon-Ponderosa Golf Course.
Monte Vista finished in second place with 242 – 19 strokes behind the champion Durango. Leading the Pirates was Kaden Mellott who tied for third place with a 77. Jakoby Ross tied for ninth with an 81, and Liam Ellithorpe tied for 14th with an 84.
The rest of the Monte Vista golfers saw Ryker Anderson tie for 16th with an 87, Connor Mellott place 19th with an 89, Aiden Ford take 24th with a 95, Todd Adams and Corbin Castillo tie for 28th with a 99, Jason Gonzales tie to 37th with a 113, and Logan Futrell place 40th with a 115.
Alamosa finished sixth with 288. The Mean Moose were led by Josh Cline who was 23rd with a 93, Kobe Mizokami who was 25th with a 97, and Zack Crowther and Clayton Gilmore tied for 26th with a 98.
Also golfing for Alamosa were Serjio Najera, Clayton Treinen and Carsten Kirkland who all tied for 28th with a 99. Kiko Ruybal was 33rd with a 105.
Del Norte placed seventh with 336. Gage Trujillo led the Tigers as he was 35th with a 109. Landan Velasquez tied for 37th with a 113, Nickolas Atencio was 39th with a 114, and Kaesyn Eagles was 42nd with a 118.
Durango’s Zachary Griswold was the medalist with a 72.
Next for all three teams will be the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament which will take place Tuesday at Cattails Golf Course. The tournament begins at 9 a.m.
