On January 19 & 20, band students from seven middle schools gathered to rehearse and perform as members of the San Luis Valley Music Educators’ Middle School Honor Band. Students were selected by audition, and played under the direction of Dr. Angela Winter, professor of horn and director of bands at Adams State University. Schools participating included Centauri, Cotopaxi, McGinnis MS (Buena Vista), Monte Vista, Ortega MS, Pagosa Springs and Salida.  SLV-MEA exists to provide ancillary music experiences for instrumental music students.
