La Jara resident Lorenzo Dwin Abeyta, 70, passed away April 21, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. Lorenzo was born on February 17, 1947 in Center, Colorado, the son of Alfredo Abeyta and Bernice Erlinda Lovato Abeyta. On April 3, 1988 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pauline Martinez in Las Vegas. Lorenzo was always making jokes and being the entertainment around his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, playing bingo and pool and he was an avid Denver Broncos fan. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth P. Abeyta of La Jara, CO. sons Dwayne Abeyta and Christopher Abeyta both of Farmington, NM; three grandchildren, sisters Sarah (Lee) Vargas of Monte Vista, CO; Marlene (Charles) Arellano of Center, CO; Lupe (Dale) White of Denver, CO; brothers Arthur Valencia of Center, CO; Clarence (Grace) Abeyta of Durango, CO; Marty (Diana) Martinez, Virgil Martinez, Julian (Kathy) Jiron all of Denver, CO; Gene (Angie) Anaya of Alamosa, CO; Nick (Debbie) Martinez of Antonito, CO; Danny Martinez of La Jara, CO; and David (Maggie) Martinez of Alamosa. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Bernice Abeyta, one son Albert Abeyta, brothers Gilbert, Anthony and Bobby Abeyta and one sister Karen Valencia.
Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Feed Store Church in Monte Vista. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
