Lounging in a field of ‘cotton’

These horses stopped scrounging for food Wednesday to watch the photographer as they stood in snow-covered chicos on the south edge of Alamosa. The two-day storm brought two to three feet of snow to the western areas of the San Luis Valley and forced Wednesday closures of Wolf Creek, LaVeta and La Manga/Cumbres passes. San Luis Valley REC battled near record electrical outages due to the wet, heavy precipitation.
