Born on Oct. 1, 1927, in San Francisco, Colo., to Edwardo and Felipita (Mondragon) Medina, Lucy lived a life marked by devotion to her faith, love for her family, and a generous spirit that touched the hearts of those around her.

Lucy's journey through life was a testament to her strength and caring nature. She found joy in her role as a cook for over 20 years, where she nourished not only the bodies but also the souls of those she served. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life as she embodied the role of caretaker, for the St. James Catholic Church, she was an active and cherished member of the Holy Family Church in Fort Garland, Colo.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A devout Catholic, Lucy was an integral part of the Sacred Heart Society, and her commitment to her spiritual life was evident in her service as an Extraordinary Minister and choir member for the Holy Family Church. Her love for praying the Rosary was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.

Lucy's interests and hobbies brought joy and color to her life and the lives of others. Her gardens were a testament to her patience and attention to detail, while her love for crocheting created warmth in more ways than one. An avid Raiders fan, Lucy's enthusiasm for the game was matched only by her excitement during her Bingo nights.

Described as thoughtful and faith-filled, Lucy leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her daughters, Lorraine (Richard) Tanaka of Yuma, Ariz., Eleanor (Mike) Velasquez of Blanca, Colo., and Betty Arlene (Paul) Velasquez of La Junta, Colo.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild in the womb and her sister, Sister Mary Concetta Medina of Omaha, Neb.
