Main Street deal allows local businesses to thrive

ALAMOSA — Local health insurance company Friday Health Plans recently purchased the building at 700 Main Street from accounting firm Wall, Smith and Bateman Inc. Friday Health Plans, which currently rents the Main Street property’s first floor, will expand to occupy the entire building as their business grows. Wall, Smith and Bateman Inc., will relocate to the Alamosa Gateway development by early 2020.

“Our company’s roots are in Alamosa and we wanted to stay in the community even though we’ve been outgrowing our space,” said Sal Gentile, CEO of Friday Health Plans. “This transaction is a great solution for us as we grow.” Friday Health Plans currently employs 55 people in Alamosa and plans to expand in the next several months. Wall, Smith and Bateman Inc. has 45 employees locally.

“We feel this is a big win for Alamosa, keeping the Main Street building completely full and providing Friday Health Plans a solution to keep their thriving business in town,” said Karla Willschau, CPA, with Wall, Smith and Bateman Inc. “We’ll be using local subcontractors to build our new office, all who are clients.”

Formerly known as Colorado Choice Health Plans and San Luis Valley HMO, Friday Health Plans has offered health insurance to individuals, families and businesses in the San Luis Valley and other Colorado counties for more than 45 years. The Main Street office is the company’s operations headquarters, housing customer service, claims processing, accounting, sales and other functions. Friday also has a smaller office in Denver.
