MONTE VISTA — On Aug. 24, the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office was contacted in reference to an unresponsive male in the area of 8th Avenue in the unincorporated area of the city of Monte Vista. Officers from the Monte Vista Police Department as well as local EMS attempted lifesaving efforts, which were unsuccessful.

The Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and currently awaiting the results from the autopsy from the Office of the Medical Examiner. The identification of the deceased is being withheld at this time until notification of next of kin can be accomplished by the Rio Grande County Coroner.
