We only know death once it has placed its hand on someone you love.

Death has placed its hand on a wonderful man, Manuel De Herrera. He made life worth living every day. He passed away on March 12, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on Nov. 8, 1930, at home in Antonito, Colo. He made his home in the San Luis Valley until he was called to service in the Korean War (1952-54). He came home safe, along with many medals.

After returning home he embarked on many adventures and jobs until he retired from USWEST phone company in 1992. From there he moved back to the Valley.

He is succeeded in death by his wife, four daughters, one son, one brother, grandchildren and many great grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances.

He will be missed and remembered always.
