In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband and family.
She is survived by her daughters Josephine (Jim) Peterson of Grand Junction, CO and Beverly Maestas-Salazar of Alamosa, CO; her daughter-in-law Susan Maestas of Denver, CO; her grandchildren Jeremy Maestas of Denver, Kristine (Mark) Martinez of Denver, and P.A. Salazar of Alamosa; her great-grandchildren Thalia Aguirre, Desi Aguirre, Christopher Martinez, Zachary Maestas, all of Denver, CO and Etkah Salazar of Alamosa; her siblings Madlene (Arthur) Trujillo of Pueblo, CO and Augustine (Celia) Trujillo of Antelope, CA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Anthony Maestas, grandson Christopher Maestas, her son-in-law Pedro Salazar; her siblings John (Manuelita) Trujillo, Fred (Mary Ann) Trujillo, and Louis (Della) Trujillo.
The family wants to give special thanks to sisters-in-law Ella Maestas and Mary Clem, her niece Freddie Gibbs, nephew Carlos Trujillo, and brother-in-law Rock (Nancy) Maestas for the kindness shown to Mary through their calls, letters, visits, and gifts.
Cremation was chosen and a Recitation of the Rosary will be held 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. Inurnment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mary would have loved if you said a prayer and shared compassion and kindness with those around you. Special blessings to Beverly for taking such excellent care of our mother and grandmother.
