Annie Nissen to be new school director

ALAMOSA —Trinity Lutheran School has announced the retirement of Mary Conner, who is retiring in May after serving at the school for 33 years.

Conner started as a part-time assistant in preschool, kindergarten, and first-second grades. She was certified through Trinidad State College and became director in 1998. Through her years of service, she has enjoyed working with students, seeing past students, and teaching children of past students.

According to the school, "Trinity has been blessed to have had Mary on our staff for 33 years and we will miss her greatly."

Trinity announced that Annie Nissen has been appointed as the new school director. She is currently a member of the preschool staff. She has an associate degree in animal science from North Eastern Jr. College in Sterling, a bachelor’s in early childhood from the University of Phoenix, and an associate’s in elementary education from Colorado Mountain College.

Previously, Nissen was the lead teacher in a preschool class for 4 years, and a kindergarten para for the local school district in New Castle. She has returned to the Valley to work on her husband Grant’s family farm. She also has a 3-year old daughter Marlee.
