Manassa resident Mary Jane Gallegos, 85, passed away on December 27, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Mary was born on April 30, 1932 in Manassa, Colorado, the daughter of Juan Gonzales and Piedad and Albert Archuleta. She was united in marriage to Joe R. Gallegos. Mary was a member of the Neighbors in Christ, Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters, and the Mariachi San Luis. She supported various missions and was an avid volunteer in the community. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who enjoyed music and taught others to play musical instruments.

Survivors include her children Joan g de Petrizzi of Chicago, Ill.; Oliver (Larrice) Gallegos of Phoenix, AZ; Chris Gallegos of Denver, CO; Marilyn (Edgar) Gallegos Ramirez of Escondido, CA; Cynthia (Josh) Valerio of Carmel, CO; Amos (Sara) Gallegos of Colorado Springs, CO; also sisters Theresa (Gene) Varoz of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Connie (David) Salazar of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Veronica Atencio of Manassa, Colorado; Beva (Richard) Russom of Chama, New Mexico; Lisa (Steve) Polaco of Ensenada, New Mexico; Rita Lucero of Portland, Oregon; Carole Montoya of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers Robert Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Johnny Cooper of Haskell, Texas; sister-in-law Maureen Gonzales of Alamosa; grandchildren Richard (Tammy) Campbell; Kendra (Ollie) Baroz; Charlotte (Joe) Ramirez; Wynonna (Jessie) Lopez; Jennifer (Brian) Cartmell, Joanne Eaglin, Jill Eaglin, Taylor (Haylee) Gallegos, Cameron (Laine) Gallegos, Danielle (Rajshad) Anderson, Dylan Valerio, Dakota Valerio, Stephanie Gallegos, Kevin Gallegos and fourteen great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by Juan Gonzales and Piedad and Albert Archuleta; daughters Sandra L. Mestas, Carla Campbell, Florence Gallegos, brothers Arthur Gonzales, Frank Archuleta, sisters Ann Pederson, Martha Rendon Sanchez, and Elizabeth Boren.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Manassa, Colorado. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa. Viewing and visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Reception to follow the burial at the Manassa Catholic Parish Hall.
