Masias leads All-IML volleyball team

ALAMOSA – The All-Intermountain League volleyball team was released earlier this week with nine players from the San Luis Valley being recognized.

League champion Alamosa had the most selection with five and it was led by league Player of the Year Mary Masias who was also placed on the first team. Two other Lady Mean Moose players were named first team in Avery Mobbley and Morgan Ortega.

Also named for Alamosa were Laci Christensen who was second team, and Charley Higham who was honorable mention.

Centauri was next with four selections. Abbey Smith and Kailyn Polzin were both first team, and Austyn Shawcroft Jaelyn Jackson were both second team.

Centauri’s Ali Miller was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Both Alamosa and Centauri advanced to the Class 3A State Tournament this year with both teams winning two matches and losing two.

Bayfield had three All-League selections, while Pagosa Springs and Montezuma-Cortez both had two.
