Masquerade ball is Saturday

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” -Dr. Suess, The Lorax

ALAMOSA — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley invites the community to attend the 18th annual “When You Wish Upon a Star…”  Masquerade Ball and Gala Auction on Saturday, October 27th from 6-9 p.m. in celebration of the programs.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley, which enables all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens is hosting The Masquerade Ball and Gala Auction and seeks to raise over $50,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and auction item sales, making it the most important development event for the Boys & Girls Clubs. The annual event also serves as the kick-off for the 2019 Youth of the Year competition.

Every year the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley rolls out the red carpet and invites community members to dig deep in support of positive youth programs. Imagine flowing sequined dresses, men in suits and everyone with a mask on. All of the proceeds support one of the most important programs in the San Luis Valley — an out of school time support where every kid can become… a star!

The live and silent auctions incorporate eight unique experiences for local and regional events. There are two trips to Broncos games, a trip to artsy Santa Fe and Creede, a night photography trip, hosted dinners, a spa package and even a 1979 Cadillac Coup DeVille! The total value of items available is over $15,000.

Sponsors for the event include SLV Federal Bank, Alamosa State Bank, Southwest Bank, El Pomar Foundation, Friday Health, SLV Health, Wall, Smith & Bateman, Van Iwaarden Builders, Rio Grande Savings & Loan and numerous other local businesses.

“We rely on our support from the community to continue to offer high quality out-of-school time programs for youth across the San Luis Valley,” said Executive Director Aaron Miltenberger. “We always have a great time and enjoy great food and dancing but at the end of the day, the event is all about our youth and the importance of giving them a safe place to be after school with some of the best programs in the country to help them on their journey.”

Join Boys & Girls Clubs at the Roadway Inn in Alamosa this Saturday October 27th from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include appetizers, dinner and drinks and admission to all auctions. DJ Armando Valdez will get folks dancing at an after party. To purchase tickets, visit www. goo.gl/xYYjJt or visit www.bgcslv.org.
