May menus shared for San Luis Valley senior centers


VALLEY — Following are the May menus for the senior centers throughout the San Luis Valley. Reservations are required. Call South Central Colorado Seniors at 589-4511 or sign up at the individual meal sites. All meals are served with 1-percent milk, no trans fat and no salt butter. Butter is served with bread products. Menus are subject to change.

Wednesday, May 2 — Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, asparagus, whole wheat roll, apples/pears

Thursday, May 3 — Crunch fish, tartar sauce, coleslaw, mixed vegetables, pineapple mandarin orange compote, whole wheat bread

Friday, May 4— Taco salad casserole, salsa, zucchini/tomatoes, peaches, whole wheat tortilla

Monday, May 7 — Salmon filet, peas, creamy coleslaw, mandarin oranges, whole what bread, peanut butter cookies

Tuesday, May 8 — Spaghetti and meat sauce, salad, green beans, apricot halves, breadsticks

Wednesday, May 9 — Chicken patty on bun with everything, sweet potato fries, pasta salad with fresh broccoli, pineapple

Thursday, May 10 — Sloppy Joe on wheat bun, sun chips, seasoned spinach, mandarin oranges, frog eye salad

Friday, May 11 — Chicken pot pie, seasoned broccoli, salad, pineapple, whole wheat crackers

Monday, May 14 — Chicken cordon bleu, brown rice, asparagus, mandarin oranges, whole wheat crackers

Tuesday, May 15 — Beef stroganoff, orange spiced carrots, salad with black beans, mixed fruit, whole wheat bread

Wednesday, May 16— Hamburger on whole wheat bun with everything, sweet potato fries, pasta salad with fresh broccoli, pineapple

Thursday, May 17 — Tuna salad, pea salad, tomato, lettuce, pineapple, whole wheat crackers

Friday, May 18 — Swiss steak, parsley potatoes, three bean salad, half orange, whole wheat roll

Monday, May 21 — Beef and broccoli stir fry, steamed brown rice, steamed carrots, peaches, whole wheat bread

Tuesday, May 22 — Chef’s salad bowl with chicken, sunflower seeds, ranch dressing, whole wheat crackers, oatmeal cookie, apricots

Wednesday, May 23 — BBQ beef on wheat bun, oven baked beans, coleslaw, pears, frosting on spice cake

Thursday, May 24 — Fish creole, cheesy potatoes, broccoli/cauliflower, sliced peaches, whole wheat roll

Friday, May 25 — Macaroni and cheese with ham, Brussels sprouts, Waldorf salad with walnuts, whole wheat bread, chocolate pudding

Monday, May 28 — Closed for Memorial Day

Tuesday, May 29 — Pork chop with country style gravy, tossed salad with two tomato slices, apricots and half orange, whole wheat roll

Wednesday, May 30 — Chicken fajita, tomato, lettuce, cheese, salsa, Spanish rice, pears, whole wheat crackers

Thursday, May 31 — Chili relleno casserole, yellow squash/tomatoes, plums, whole wheat tortilla
