Mayor Coleman announces re-election bid, launches Campaign

ALAMOSA — Alamosa Mayor Ty Coleman has announced that he is running for re-election, and is officially launching his campaign.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as mayor over the past few years,” Coleman says. “As a city, we have made great progress working together as a team for the greater good of our entire community. While much has been done throughout our city, there is still much more to do. I believe our city has greatness within it, and there are no limits to what we can achieve working together. I need your help…I am starting my re-election campaign by reaching out to you, my friends and community partners to ask for your support, volunteer efforts, and your vote.”

While serving as mayor of Alamosa, Ty Coleman has been dedicated to listening and responding to resident’s concerns, being active in the business community, participating in local college activities, collaborating with non-profit organizations and government agencies, encouraging students in schools throughout Alamosa, and working with city council members and city staff to improve the city as a whole.

Mayor Coleman has a servant’s heart and leads by example, serving his community in many roles.

Coleman is the Director of Corporate Relations for Community Resources and Housing Development Corporation, which focuses on providing decent, safe, affordable, and attainable housing opportunities for people in rural communities throughout Colorado.

He heads a CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) program that provides rural small businesses with access to much-needed capital.

He volunteers with a variety of community organizations such as the Center for Restorative Programs, the Early Childhood Council, Kiwanis Club, 12th Judicial Commission on Judicial Performance, SLV Boys and Girls Club, and Alamosa Youth Football.

“When it comes to my style of leadership,” Coleman says, “I believe in the acronym T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More.  Working together with city staff and city council, we have accomplished some significant things for the people of Alamosa.”

A shortlist of accomplishments for the city include:

• Improved access to parks, trails and the Rio Grande river.

• Expanded city art and youth recreational programs.

• Improved city’s streets.

• Additional resources for law enforcement, the fire department, and our information technology department.

• Creation of the Director of Economic Development’s position to help the city streamline its processes to support businesses and build greater collaboration promoting our downtown.

• Creation of the Development Services Director’s position to lead strategic planning, organizational development, and community engagement.

“We have an amazing city staff that works hard, both strategically and intelligently, to make Alamosa a wonderful place to live, work, and visit. And I consider it a great honor to be the Mayor of Alamosa, and will continue to serve our community with all of my heart and soul,”.
