McVey hearing set in District Court

ALAMOSA—Shawndon McVey, 25, is headed for his first appearance in the 12th Judicial District Court. McVey is the second individual charged in the Aug. 9, 2018 murder of Mathias Fritz.

District Attorney, Crista Newmyer-Olsen issued an Offer of Consideration in the case, which was acceptable to McVey and his attorney. As a result, McVey has waived his right to a preliminary hearing in the Alamosa County Court.

Alamosa County Judge, Daniel Walzl also set a bond in the case at $100,000 cash. There was no objection from the State in the matter and the hearing is set for Feb. 6.

The third person charged in the Fritz murder, Robert P. Martinez, 29, is set for February 1.

Fritz, 40, of Alamosa, was shot to death on August 9, 2018, in East Alamosa.
