Mean Moose down sweep Tigers in doubleheader

ALAMOSA—The Alamosa Mean Moose baseball team had a dominant sweep of the Del Norte Tigers in an odd midday doubleheader at the Adams State University Baseball Field on Tuesday. The Mean Moose, who opened the season this past Saturday with a 17-4 loss to the Lamar Savages, took two games from the Tigers with scores of 34-4 and 21-0. The Mean Moose, who scored 55 runs on the day, will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Trinidad for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.

In Tuesday's first game, Alamosa had four different players score four runs, Tyler Zimmerman, Adam Crowther, Chance Strand and John Lujan. They tallied 31 hits and had nine walks.

On the hill, Zimmerman allowed four runs on three hits and one walk. He had nine strikeouts.

In the second game, Caden Alonzo allowed just one hit and walked three batters as the Mean Moose bats had 18 hits and 10 walks to score the 21 runs.

Alamosa is now 2-1 on the season.
