ALAMOSA — Alamosa Girls Golf qualified as a team for the state tournament to be held at the Elmwood Golf Course in Pueblo.

Alamosa finished second only to Vail Mountain with a team score of 301 in their home regional qualifying round.

Senior Lora Ortega led the team with a 2nd place individual finish shooting an 87 with a birdie on Hole 8, following Ortega were Charlie and Kailyn Vigil each scoring a 107 in Thursday play to tie for tenth place overall. Fellow Mean Moose Kayla Medina took 16th overall with a score of 115.

CHSAA Girls Golf Bulletin states that,

“Each regional tournament will have 2 full teams and 13 individuals not on a team”

For Monte Vista, team qualification was not an option as Alamosa and Vail Mountain took the two team qualifying positions, but Natalia Cendejas was 14th overall and was 7th in order of non-team golfers while teammate Annika Holder was 21st overall and would unofficially fill out the 13th place of the individual qualifiers to advance to state.

Alamosa and Monte Vista will be in Pueblo on June 21 and 22 for the state tournament.
