Mean Moose Golf gets a first place finish at Monte Vista Invite

MONTE VISTA, Colo. — A couple days removed from their tie for first place at Pagosa Springs, Alamosa traveled to Monte Vista. There the Moose would pick up another first place finish.

The Moose showed precision on Friday while playing on their neighbor to the west’s course making up 60 percent of the top ten finishers. Monte Vista took third place on their home course with a team total 259 strokes.

For Alamosa the lead went to Donny Chavez who shot a consistent 74, staying at or below par on all but 5 holes and collecting a birdie on hole eight. Chavez had a solid day to take first overall at the Invite. Two spots below Chavez was teammate Colton Liddell in the third place spot.

Liddell picked up two birdies while shooting a 78. Brendon Crowther placed third for the Moose and sixth overall with an 80. Clint Middlemist, Aaron Hsu and Devon Jacquez anchored the top ten for Alamosa. Middlemist and Hsu tied with 81 apiece while Jacquez shot an 82.

For Monte Vista the team lead was owned by Luke Hoffstaetter. Hoffstaetter finished fifth overall with a 79 finding par on all save seven holes. Tristen and Casin Holder finished 2nd and 3rd on the team and fourteenth and nineteenth overall respectively.

Alamosa has a short turnaround with a trip to Rocky Ford to match up against the Meloneers Saturday Sept. 8th. Monte Vista will travel for a Monday meeting at Pueblo West’s meet.
