Mean Moose shut out Del Norte

DEL NORTE —The Alamosa Mean Moose shut down the Tigers Tuesday with a 24-0 victory in Del Norte.
The Mean Moose got on the board in the first inning when senior Chance Strand doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring senior Tyler Zimmerman. Junior Caden Alonzo followed with a double line drive to right field scoring Strand. A single by John Lujan and fielding errors followed bringing the Moose to a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the first inning.

Alamosa scored nine runs in the second inning. The rally was led by an error on a ball put in play by Strand, doubles by Alonzo, junior Adam Crowder, junior Jared Carson and a walk by junior Kolten Hillis.
A single by Preston Terrell in the third inning was a positive for Del Norte.

Zimmerman led things off on the rubber for Alamosa Mean Moose Varsity. He allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out six.

Senior Carlos Parra led things off on the hill for Del Norte. He allowed nine hits and 16 runs over two and a third innings, striking out one. Narsiso Rodriguez threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Alamosa racked up 13 hits on the day. Alonzo, Ben Wuckert, and Strand all collected multiple hits for the Moose, with Wuckert recording a triple and a homerun in the competition. The team was sure-handed in the field as well and didn’t commit a single error.

Terrell went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Del Norte in hits.
