Mean Moose spirit squad takes third place at state

DENVER — Four teams from the San Luis Valley were in attendance at the Spirit State Championships at the Denver Coliseum over the weekend.

Of the four; Sargent, Monte Vista, Sanford and Alamosa; Alamosa was the lone squad to qualify for finals.

In 2A Poms Sanford placed fourth in the preliminaries but only two teams would qualify from their class and discipline. The title went to Limon who had a total score of 92.440. In the new discipline Game Day were Sargent and Monte Vista competing in the 2A/3A division. They would place 14th and 17th respectively with the 2A/3A Game Day title going to Bishop Machbeuf who earned an 82.233 total score.

Alamosa competed in the 2A/3A Co-Ed Cheer discipline and earned third place with a 61.633 total score in the preliminary round, one of four teams to advance to the finals. At the finals Alamosa would earn a 61.317 total score to take third place, first went to Coal Ridge.
