Memorial Day in Creede

Creede’s annual Memorial Day tribute in Basham Park finished with “Taps” played by DeAunn Lowe. Ray Dellenbaugh, Creede Elks member and veteran of the US Army, who served as a medic in the 101st Airborne in Viet Nam, was master of ceremonies and speaker, reminding the estimated 200 in attendance that the “American spirit is alive and well here in Creede.”

Charles Ewing of Antonito and the “world” pulled a model from the crowd at the annual Taste of Creede “quick draw” competition Sunday and quickly created another masterpiece that helped raised funds for next year’s event. He was the featured artist at this year’s event.
