Emma Garcia Little Miss Merry Christmas

ALAMOSA – A second grader at Alamosa Elementary has been drawn as the 2018 Little Miss Merry Christmas.

Emma Garcia is the daughter of Courtney Oringdulph of Alamosa and will join Miss Merry Christmas Mikyla Johnson to be featured in the Valley Courier’s annual Miss Merry Christmas edition on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Mikyla was chosen based on being crowned homecoming queen at Alamosa High School.

The daughter of Rusty Johnson and Tina Belt, Mikyla is a senior at AHS and has been involved in various activities while a student there. She has three sisters, Shereen Gonzales, Stephanie Johnson and Jordyn Johnson.

Mikyla has taken an interest in science, especially biology in school and has a goal of becoming a dermatologist. While at AHS she has been involved in the school newspaper and yearbook, and a member of the Link Crew who helps freshmen get familiar with the school.

She has been a gymnast since she was four years old and coaches middle school and kiddie gymnastics, as well as assists with wrestling as her father has been a longtime coach at AHS.

Maintaining a 3.8 GPA, Mikyla hopes to attend either the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Texas A&M, Adams State or Colorado University of Denver.

“My family has the most influence on my life and has helped me become who I am today,” she said.
