Mitzi Lee Hunter-Young

In Loving Memory

Mitzi Lee Hunter-Young, born January 19, 1968, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2018. Mitzi attended and graduated high school in 1986 from Mountain Valley School in Saguache, Colorado. During her high school career, Mitzi was known for her athletic ability, particularly in the sport of basketball. Being an avid ball player, Mitzi taught both of her grandchildren how to play basketball and instilled in them the same love of the game that she had.  She was also a member of the Pitkin Avenue Baptist Church.

Mitzi was very talented at woodworking, gardening, painting, sewing, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and cooking. Although she had many interests and loves, being a grandmother to Alex and Andi Marie was what she loved the most. Mitzi welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, a warm meal and a beautiful heart. She will be sorely missed and always loved by her parents, children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

Mitzi is survived by her daughters Brenna Hunter (Andrew Studer) and Megan Carroll, grandchildren Alex and Andi Marie Carroll, brother Michael Powszukiewicz and parents Ed and Tootsie Powszukiewicz. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Florence Fullenwider and Bill and Rose Long.

Funeral services will be held at the Saguache Community Building on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements were made by The Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, Colorado. All donations will go to the Alex and Andi Marie college fund.  To leave online condolences, tributes and remarks for Mitzi’s family, please visit www.RogersFunerals.com
