Monte Vista 10th after first round at state tourney

ALAMOSA – Four San Luis Valley boys golfers participated in the first round of the Class 3A State Tournament Monday at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver.

The Monte Vista High School boys golf team is currently in 10th place with a score of 245. Leading the Pirates is Kaden Mellott who is tied for 21st with a 77. Liam Ellithorpe is tied for 48th with an 83, and Ryker Anderson is tied for 60th with an 85.

Del Norte’s Ben Parra is also at the state tournament and he is tied for 65th place with an 87.

Vail Mountain is in the lead after the first round with 221. Resurrection Christian is a close second with 223, Colorado Academy is third with 227, Peak to Peak is fourth with 230, and Aspen is fifth with 231.

Resurrection Christian’s Clint Summers is the individual leader after the first round with a one-under-par 69.

The state tournament concludes today.
