MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista’s Golf Club was host to the Lady Pirate’s golf invitational. When the forecast showed rain in the early morning the tournament was pushed back in the hopes the storm would blow over. Instead of rain Alamosa and Monte Vista struggled through a cold wind and snow. Despite the turbulent weather Monte Vista took the head to head meet with Alamosa by a team score of 284-299.
Pirate Gracie Burkhart took first overall with a score of 85. Burkhart did a good job maintaining her composure getting par on six holes. Burkhart also registered the only birdie of the day, getting hole 7 in three strokes.

Alana Hackett took second place overall and was first for the Moose with 90 strokes. Starting on hole one Hackett and company went directly into a bitter east-west wind. The Alamosa senior trudged at first taking eight strokes to put away the par four. Continuing on she warmed up to the course getting down to par on six holes in her own right.
Monte Vista would sweep the next two spots with Erika Medina and Alyson Baker taking third and fourth respectively. Medina shot a consistent 99 floating just above par for the entirety of the course. Baker struggled in the early going but eventually straightened things out and got down to par on her two final holes getting par on four holes total for the day.
The win gives Monte Vista their second top placing at an invitational this month. The last came when the girls took the number one spot in Salida with a team score of 287 narrowly edging out the host Spartans by 4 strokes.
Monte Vista will be back to business as usual when they travel to Florence for the Husky Invite on April 23, tee time is scheduled for 9 a.m. Alamosa will be back in action on April 26 at Cattails Golf Course starting at 9 a.m.
