Multiple agency response

ALAMOSA—On July 2, 2020, the Alamosa Police Department (APD) received information that led to the application for a search warrant at 220 San Juan Avenue.  This information is related to a missing person report APD took on June 29, 2020.  During the execution of the search warrant, the Alamosa SWAT team discovered numerous items that could be explosive, and the individual had filled the house with natural gas.  The Alamosa Fire Department arrived on scene and immediately turned off all gas to the residence.

Due to the potential risk to nearby neighbors, APD officers went door-to-door advising all neighbors of the incident and asked for a voluntary evacuation of the block due to safety concerns. The Pueblo Bomb Squad was notified and arrived on scene later to evaluate the items. The Pueblo Bomb Squad located all hazards and booby traps; making it safe for officers to continue the execution of the search warrant.  The Chaffee County Regional SWAT team assisted the Alamosa SWAT team with the search and containment of the residence. This investigation is ongoing and active. Updates will be released at a later time. Two subjects were taken into protective custody.

There is no danger to the public at this time.
