Museum offers Mother’s Day gifts

DEL NORTE — Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Rio Grande County Museum’s Gift Shoppe is open and has a variety of items that would make a perfect gift for a special mother. 

A new selection of books has been received that include coloring books for adults and children, recipe books and history books. Handcrafted items including potholders by Jean Hanna, jewelry by Patti Haught, crocheted doilies by Judy Nicolais, prints by Sharon Edwards and gourd pots by Byron Williams are available in the Gift Shoppe. Greeting cards by Yvonne Halburian, Sharon Edwards and Toni Colville can be sent for a special thought for mom. The snow mates are still available for the snowman collector. These are handcrafted and each is named with various cultures represented.

The Gift Shoppe at the Museum is managed by the museum staff, but the Rio Grande County Museum non-profit board gets the proceeds as fund raising for museum projects such as new computers, new show cases and various other activities done by the non-profit board and the museum.

Hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, please call the Rio Grande County Museum at (719) 657-2847. The museum is located at 580 Oak Street in Del Norte.
