Mustang goes off road injuring two

RIO GRANDE COUNTY -- The driver and passenger of a Mustang were transported to the Rio Grande County Hospital after a crash on Colorado 160 in Rio Grande County.

On Tuesday afternoon a Mustang was eastbound on Colorado 160 when it crossed over the westbound lane and traveled off the north side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled for over 200 feet‘ before it came back onto the roadway and crossed over both lanes of traffic. The vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway while rotating clockwise and came to rest in the barrow ditch facing east.

Both the male driver and the female passenger in the vehicle were transported to Rio Grande County Hospital. The female sustained serious bodily injury as a result of the crash and was later transported to a hospital in Colorado Springs.

Alcohol and drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash. The crash is still under investigation by Colorado State Patrol.
