MV announces staff changes

MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista School District has several staff changes this year, as shared in the August 17th board meeting:

The school board accepted the resignation from Dani Mondragon as high school secretary, Jessica Simmons as food service server and Damian White as Marsh SPED paraprofessional.

The board approved the transfer of Brandi Barbosa to Bill Metz PE teacher.

The board employed Laura Moore as DELTA/OLA science teacher, Asif Tejani as middle school health/art teacher, Alec Vanhove as band director, Briana Villagomez as school nurse, Irene Ortiz as food service server, Shelly Taylor as high school secretary, Fae Aragon as guest teacher (pending authorization), Leila Hirtler as guest teacher, Christopher Johnson as guest teacher (pending authorization), Danielle Rady as guest teacher and Monica Ramos as guest teacher. Sara Levorson was also approved as guest classified.

Superintendent Webb reported the district has five new classified staff and 13 new teachers. He also reported that Monte Vista received the WISH grant. The intention of the grant is to develop a comprehensive school and community health and wellness program.

Dirk Oden reported on the 2017 Summer School Program. Monte Vista served 35 DELTA Center/High School students with 48 semester credits earned, 18 On-Line Students with 21 semester credits earned, 28 Middle School students with 93 percent attendance rate and 36 Bill Metz students were served.

The next regular Board of Education meeting is scheduled for September 14 at 6 p.m.
