Narrow Gauge Book Coop looking for donations

ALAMOSA — Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative, having reached its financial goal to open its doors later this summer, is now starting its next chapter: finding quality books to sell to the community that is supporting it.

Co-op volunteers will have an open donation day from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, at the store, located at 602 Main St., on the corner of State Avenue and Main Street in downtown Alamosa. There will be music, food and lots of fun!

Doing some spring cleaning, and have books you are done reading? Or maybe you just had a garage sale, and have books leftover that didn’t sell? Volunteers are looking for donations of hardback books in very good condition, and would be happy to take them off your hands.

Can’t make it to the donation day? All other donations can be dropped off at San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition, 412 State Ave., during normal business hours.

Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is the grassroots effort to revive a downtown bookstore as a community-owned and volunteer-run indie bookstore. The cooperative has raised more than $47,000 in its first month of fundraising, and is on track to open in mid-July.
