Former resident of Monte Vista, CO Nora Duran (Cruz), 89, passed away on January 8, 2021, in Mesa, Arizona.

She was born November 17, 1931, in Los Pinos, New Mexico to Maria Libratha Jiron and Ramon Cruz. Nora was a devout member of the Catholic Church in Center and Monte Vista. She received a business degree from Southern Colorado College of Business in 1981 Pueblo Co. She was the owner of A & D Liquor in Center Co. from 1981-1992 and retired. She also worked at the Monte Vista Information Center until 2000.

Nora loved camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking her favorite meals (biscochitos, beans, potatoes, chili, tortillas & ribs) and singing with the Choir in Center Co. She also enjoyed being a social butterfly and putting a smile on the faces of all those who came in contact with her. 

She is survived by her children; JoAnn Del Val of Thornton Co., Elaine Duran of Mesa, Az., Louie Duran of Denver Co., & Denise (James) Moore of Laveen, Az. Grandchildren; Gabriel & Shawn Gallegos, Monique (Jose) Del Val Gonzalez, Shae Arellano, Paige (Matthew) Guiste, Jose, Monica (Michelle) Valdez, Alisha Valdez, Louie Espinoza, Amber Smith, Adam & Bernadette Pacheco, Salina Pacheco, Albert (Tara) Jaramillo, DaNeca & Rebecca Jaramillo. Great-grandchildren; Gabriel Gallegos, Alex & Amber (Phillip) Folsom, Serena & Arcey Gonzalez, Shawn Joseph Jr., Jason, Carlos, Karly, Lukas, Jurney & Norah Gallegos, Cristian Arellano, Kruz Pacheco, Elijah, Aaliyah, Nevaeh & Isaiah Vigil, Angel Filix, Angel Valdez, Mario, Alyssa & Jaden Davila, Kennedy & Kamden Jaramillo, Audrianna & Julianna Steckman. Great-Great Grandsons Dominic Gallegos & Liam Harper. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins she loved dearly.

Preceded in death by her life partner of 34 years Lazaro Archuleta of Center CO., Her Mother Maria Libratha Jiron, Father Ramon Cruz, sons Alex & Leroy Martinez & Kenneth Duran, daughter Pearl Duran, sister Elsie Cruz and brother Nicholas Cruz. Brother George Vigil and sister Valentina Martinez. 

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Monte Vista CO.
