Numbers stay high in SLV

SAN LUIS VALLEY - COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations remain high this week. Our regional test positivity rate is 9%, meaning that 9% of all COVID-19 tests performed in the past week have been positive for the virus. Our goal is to be below 5%, which would be an indicator that our case data is reliably measuring the level of transmission in our area. Public Health would like to encourage those who have COVID-19 symptoms to stay home, and to seek testing.

There were 287 active cases in the San Luis Valley as of Tuesday

Alamosa County - 127

Conejos County - 36

Costilla County - 16

Mineral County - 9

Rio Grande County - 81

Saguache County - 18

TESTING

Colorado’s free at-home testing program is open to all Coloradans. Participants sign up online at https://covid19.colorado.gov/covid-19-testing-at-home to order eight tests which they can use to test themselves or their child twice a week for four weeks.

Please note, over the counter negative test results may not be accepted as proof of negative results for some situations (travel, return to learn, employer mandated testing etc). In those instances, testing should be conducted at a proctored testing site such as a school, hospital, clinic, or state mobile testing clinic. If you need help finding a COVID-19 testing location, go to slvphp.com or call 719-480-8719.
