Officers safe in shooting incident

Witnesses say two suspects may be down

BREAKING NEWS- UPDATE!

ALAMOSA– No law enforcement officers have been injured in an incident on Highway 17 near the Colorado Gator Farm according to Major George Dingfelder of the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

The highway remained closed in both directions as of noon.

Reports from witnesses near the scene said two bodies were seen laying on the highway following a volley of bullets between the suspects and law enforcement.

Dingfelder confirmed that an officer involved shooting did occur Saturday morning but could not elaborate on details of the incident at this time. He would not comment on whether or not anyone else was shot or otherwise injured.

He added that he expected the incident would be turned over to Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI).

Reports of one or more officers being injured on social media are false, according to Dingfelder.

CSP Trooper Gary Cutler with the public information office in Denver also confirmed no injuries to officers involved from several state and local agencies, and that CBI is en route to the scene to take over the investigation. He added that any updates will be tweeted on the CSP’s Twitter feed.
