Oktobrüfest is Saturday

ALAMOSA — Enjoy Alamosa’s first Oktobrüfest and Spirits event this Saturday, September 30, from 1 p.m. until dark at Sunset Park.

The park is located between Seventh and Eighth Streets off Highway 285 (West Avenue) just south of the railroad tracks.

This event is presented by Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce featuring the Colorado Malting Company.

Chamber President Luke Yoder said, “The chamber recognized that events like this are events our community likes to attend but often has to travel outside the community to do that, and the chamber wanted to provide a fun unique opportunity to enjoy in our own community.”

Oktobrüfest, which the chamber hopes to become an annual event, will feature a variety of breweries, great food, live music, adult game competitions and activities for kids.

“It’s going to be an exciting event,” Yoder said.

“It will be an opportunity to highlight tremendous providers here locally, especially the Colorado Malting Company, known worldwide.”

Participating breweries and distillers will be: Square Peg Breweries, Alamosa; San Luis Valley Brewing Company, Alamosa; Three Barrel Brewing Company, Del Norte; WildEdge Brewing Collective, Cortez; Asher Brewing Company, Boulder; Ska Brewing, Durango; KJ Wood Distillers, Ouray; and Laws Whiskey House.

For a $10 basic entrance ticket, attendees receive an event pass to enjoy live music and activities throughout the park as well as a serving cup. They will be able to purchase brews featuring participating breweries and distillers.

Food will also be available for purchase from Gosar Sausage and Locavores.

VIP tickets for $30 include entrance plus an event T-shirt, commemorative stein and one free beer. There is a limited quantity of VIP tickets so act quickly.

Get tickets at any of these following locations: Alamosa County Chamber; Del Mar Carpet One; Rocky Mountain Home Health Supplies; Rio Grande Savings and Loan Monte Vista; or Chief Liquor.

Tickets will also be available on site the day of the event.

Entertainment during the afternoon will be provided by singer/songwriter Dave Mensch whose mix of country, rock and fusion feature many of the rock hits from the 1990’s and 2000’s, and the Valley’s own Waverly Road featuring local musicians.

Activities for kids will include a bounce house ($5 for unlimited bouncing), face painting and crazy obstacle courses.

Games for adults will include Custom Competition, Trash Can Beer Pong Competition, Cornhole, Stein Holding Contest and Keg Toss Competition.
