OMS 'Theatre O' to present 'Shrek Jr.'

ALAMOSA — Ortega Middle School’s ‘Theatre O’ program will be presenting its fall production on December 6th and 7th.  This year will feature “Shrek Jr. The Musical.”

2018 marks the 10th anniversary of Theatre O and the 20th production at OMS. The students of Theatre O will be performing a variety of musical numbers including adaptation of Neil Diamond’s “I’m a Believer” under the direction of Adri Chapa. The production is based on the Dreamworks Animation motion picture, and the book by William Steig.

The cast of ‘Shrek Jr.” consists of Jamie Carroll, Brittany Smith, Ava Crowder, Bryssa Curtis, Isaiah Carpiro, Liam Capell, David Chacon, Hunter Jordan, Shea Jordan, Jessica Schaffer, Rebecca Workman, Aylanna Lucero, Gabriela Gonzalez, Makayla Gagnon, Travis Cole, Elizabeth Bell, Angelica Gallegos, Alan Colon, Joseph Konkol, Kaden Warman, Marcus Reyes, Illyana Longfellow, Emily Cook, Caden Jackson, Daphne Kreps, Kyler Valdez, Kaden Valdez, TJ Cody, Jacob Cole, Amelia Van, Isaiah Carpio, Tyler Cook, Harley Booth, Emily Roberto, Autumn Chacon, Jacob Cole, Faith Cooper, Charlie Kelly, and Toby Robinson.

Chapa has noted that Theatre O is something that gives OMS students a “creative outlet,” along with a place to build relationships and skills. Chapa also noted that she is grateful for support from the OMS administration. She particularly wants to recognize Eric Palmer, who was instrumental in obtaining a grant for new curtains to be installed in the OMS Auditorium.

Chapa also acknowledges the key role that the parents have played in the program as well. Additional support for the production has come from Birdies’ Boutique, Mountain Valley Dance and Rainbow’s End.

“Shrek Jr.” is set to be held on December 6th and 7th at 7 p.m. at the OMS Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and children.
