CONEJOS COUNTY — A late night crash resulted in a fatality on Sunday .

On September 19th, 2021, at approximately 10:57 p.m., Colorado State Patrol (CSP) responded to a one vehicle crash on US Highway 285 at Conejos County Road L.  The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:41 p.m.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle, a gold 2006 Pontiac G6, was traveling north on US Highway 285 when it drove off the right side of the road and struck a telephone pole with its front. The vehicle continued through the pole and began to rotate.  The vehicle traveled up the embankment to Road L and struck a delineator post.  The vehicle went airborne and landed on the north side of Road L.  The vehicle rolled 1/2 time coming to rest on its roof facing southeast.

The crash is still under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit.
