One cited, two injured in Thursday accident

Alamosa firefighters clear debris from the scene of a two-car accident occurring during the noon hour on Thursday at Main Street (Hwy 160) and Washington Ave., in Alamosa. According to Alamosa Police Chief Ken Anderson, a vehicle driven by Amy Montoya, 40, of Alamosa, turned left onto Washington Avenue after failing to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. Montoya was cited with careless driving causing injury. Two individuals were transported to the nearby San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center where they are treated for injuries. While emergency personnel were wrapping things up at this scene about 1 p.m. another two-vehicle accident occurred at Sixth and West, but Chief Anderson said minor damage was sustained, no one was injured, and no citations were issued. Two vehicles were traveling north on West Avenue, and one rear-ended the other.
