Open house is Friday for Mi Esperanza

ALAMOSA — The SLV Behavioral Health Group (SLVBHG) is opening its second Walk-in Crisis Center with a grand opening this week.

Mi Esperanza Wellness Center is a safe calm place for community members to receive immediate support and treatment for behavioral/ mental health symptoms.

The grand opening will be Friday, September 14th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. SLVBHG is welcoming all community members and partners to come join in the celebration, take a tour of the new facility and enjoy a free burger lunch.

Although SLVBHG provides a variety of outpatient services, Inpatient Psychiatric Care is non-existent in the San Luis Valley. Individuals requiring inpatient psychiatric care often travel to Pueblo or Colorado Springs. This is not an option for many living within the valley. SLVBHG believes that treating individuals within the community relates to more family involvement and better outcomes.

The Mi Esperanza Wellness Center is a place people can go without feeling the stigma of having a behavioral/ mental health crisis. Providing a safe and private setting for individuals to receive the services they need to regain control. With an emphasis on recovery and linking individuals to services, SLVBHG can prevent visits to the ER or hospitalization outside of our community.

The daytime location is located at 311 San Juan Ave., Alamosa. It is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The new overnight location is located at 2255 Lava Lane, Alamosa. Its hours are Monday – Friday 5 p.m.– 8 a.m. & Saturday – Sunday 24 hrs. Between the two locations there is 24-hour support for those in need.
