Oringdulph running for city council

ALAMOSA — Robert Oringdulph announced his candidacy for the Alamosa City Council last week for the at-large seat currently held by Kristina Daniel.

Currently, he is serving on the Adams State University Alumni Board, Adams 100 Celebration Committee, Boys and Girls Club of the San Luis Valley, Alamosa County Local Marketing Board, Suicide Prevention Task Force, City of Alamosa Homeless Coalition, Alamosa County Economic Development Corporation and the Alamosa Uptown River Associative. He has also been active in downtown Alamosa activities and historical preservation and served on the Sierra Grande School Board for several years before moving to Alamosa in 1993.

Oringdulph was born in Alamosa and raised in southern Costilla County, where his family farmed and mined lava rock. He married Susan Morgen in 1970 and graduated from Adams State in 1971. They have six children and 16 grandchildren. After working for six years for the Woolworth Company, Oringdulphr came back to Colorado in 1977 to work in the family business mining and marketing lava rock for landscaping and gas BBQ grills. He sold the business in 1981 but continued to work for new owners. In 1997, he left the company to open an Edward Jones Investment office in Alamosa. He will be retiring in December.
