PALS art show sells out

The PALS art show featured more than 50 unique creations by PALS participating youth.

ALAMOSA — On Friday, November 9th, Milagros Coffee House hosted an art show, which displayed various pieces of artwork created by the children of La Puente’s PALS Program. The PALS Program is a licensed after school program that provides structure, support and an explorative learning environment to children who come from traumatic or difficult backgrounds.

The art show was an initiative created to honor and celebrate the youth who participate in the PALS Program as well as, engage and educate the community about the services La Puente offers. Watercolors, paintings, pottery and wiring pieces compiled a total of 54 creations which decorated the walls of Milagros. Every piece created specifically for the show, sold out and 100 percent of the proceeds will be given directly to The PALS Children’s Program to further support their efforts.

Don Hannah, the director of the PALS Children’s Program, spoke highly of each child- emphasizing the importance of imagination as well as, the exposure to platforms in which encourage growth and development.  These values seemed to be represented, as each child was given the opportunity to speak on behalf of their experience, creating art. One PAL spoke of his dream to reach college and another talked about the excitement he felt while painting a picture.

La Puente is thankful for a community that continues to show support for events like this that allow every child the chance to dream and grow.  For inquiries on how to support La Puente’s PALS Children’s Program, please contact Don Hannah by email at, [email protected].
