Pauline Duran

Longtime Antonito resident Pauline Christine Duran, 89, was called home on March 2, 2023. She passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side. Pauline was welcomed into the world on Dec. 17, 1933, in Fox Creek, Colo. She was the beloved daughter of Jose R. Ruybal and Rubenstina DuPont.

Pauline dedicated her life to caring for her family and her faith. She loved God and was devoted to serving the Lord and helping in the church as much as she could. She was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Choir for 36 years.

Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

In her free time, she enjoyed baking, babysitting her grandchildren, doing puzzles, crossword puzzles and word searches. She loved shopping and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Geri (Andy) Romero of Eagle, Colo.; son Joseph (Anabelle) Duran of Antonito, Colo.; grandchildren James, Jonathon, Robbie, Amanda, Christopher, great-grandchildren, Darrion, Jasmine, Stephanie, Lyberti, Justice, Freedom, Addison and Colton and sister Anne Stewart and brother Arthur Ruybal. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bert Duran and brothers Lee, Freddie, Robert, Lawrence, and sisters Margaret and Leona.

On June 17, 2023, the rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. with mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

The care of arrangements has been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
