Peay to give ‘dragonology’ lecture January 24

Thomas Peay

ALAMOSA — Colorado Field Institute will host a winter lecture on dragonology and other tales of illusion from the San Luis Valley, by Thomas Peay. The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 24th, in Porter Hall, Room 130, on the Adams State University Campus, 208 Edgemont, Alamosa.

The San Luis Valley, especially near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is known for unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings, unexplained phenomena, and bizarre happenings. Ask most any local and you will hear a story about what they themselves, or family members, have seen that they could neither identify nor explain. The legacy of the bizarre death of Snippy, the horse, that made headlines across the state some 50 years ago, still hangs over the San Luis Valley.

So, what’s the truth? In 1900, the British physicist Lord Kelvin is said to have pronounced: “There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now. All that remains is more and more precise measurement.” In less than three decades, quantum mechanics and Einstein’s theory of relativity had revolutionized the field. Today, no physicist would assert that our physical knowledge of the universe is anywhere near complete.

Come join in an overview of some of the best of the San Luis Valley’s paranormal stories, enjoy the show, and maybe then decide for yourself.

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” ? Albert Einstein
