Pirates drop a pair to Bayfield

MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista fell behind early and couldn't come back in a pair of IML baseball losses to Bayfield here Monday, 11-0 and 7.0.

Bayfield captured the lead in the first inning and scored six runs in the fourth inning of the first game. The big inning for Bayfield came thanks to a double by J Brandon, a walk by A Demko, a single by H Brandon, and a double by R Hoover.

A single by Brycen Hotz in the first inning was an early highlight for Monte Vista.

F Edwards earned the win for the Wolverines. He pitched five innings, surrendering zero runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Eloy Martinez took the loss for Monte Vista. He went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering ten runs, ten hits, and striking out two.

Hunter Hindes, Tristen Holder, Hotz, Colby Self, Martinez, and Stephen Clutter each managed one hit to lead Monte Vista.

Bayfield collected ten hits.

The Pirates fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-0 loss in the second game Saturday. Bayfield took the lead on a walk in the second inning.

Monte Vista lost despite out-hitting Bayfield eight to three. Bayfield scored three runs in the sixth inning.
A double by Hunter Hindes in the first inning was a positive for Monte Vista.

Farmer earned the win for Bayfield. He went seven innings, giving up zero runs, eight hits, striking out 11, and walking one. Brycen Hotz took the loss for Monte Vista. He pitched three and a third innings, giving up four runs, zero hits, and striking out four.

Monte Vista collected eight hits. Pedro Ortiz and Hindes each managed two hits to lead Monte Vista.
